Die Originalversion von “Sound of Silence” war in den 60er-Jahren einer der größten Hits von “Simon & Garfunkel”.
Inhaltlich entwickelt der Text düstere Zukunftszenarien, im Kontrast dazu stand damals die schöne, harmonisch klingende Musik mit mehrstimmigem Gesang.
In der Coverversion der amerikanischen Metal-Band “Disturbed”, die erst vor kurzem der größte Erfolg dieser Band wurde, verschwinden diese musikalischen Elemente und werden durch düsteren Gesang und brachial gespielte Instrumente ersetzt:
